This qualification meets the requirements of the FAW regulations and is regulated by OFQUAL. It is suitable for businesses, schools and community groups to meet their legal obligations.

First Aid at Work (FAW) qualification is designed to meet the needs of employers, communities and individuals committed to providing safety and first aid support for aquatic and non-aquatic (dry) activities in a working or associated environment. This course provides candidates with the knowledge, skills and confidence to deal with the demands to administer first aid within the work environment.

Is this course suitable for you?

FAW course is recommended to everyone. Organisations are particularly advised to take this course. No prior first aid knowledge is required.

This qualification is for learners aged 16+ who have a specific responsibility at work, or in a voluntary capacity to provide first aid.

First Aid at Work Qualification

The FAW qualification is valid for three years. Candidates must requalify before the expiry date of their existing qualification to remain qualified.

To get qualified in this course, candidates must be 16 years of age at the date of assessment, show 100% attendance and complete all assessments.

This OFQUAL-accredited qualification is suitable for all industries and meets HSE requirements. 

Requalification for FAW

In order to requalify, learners must be fully assessed against all learning outcomes. The delivery time can be adjusted based on current HSE guidance for requalification (2 days). It is considered appropriate to reduce the time by 6 hours for requalification to 12 hours.

Delivery Method

To ensure the best support is provided to candidates, the maximum number attending a course is limited to 12.

Course Duration

The total qualification time for First Aid at Work course is 22 hours. It is made up of 18 guided learning hours (excluding breaks) and 4 hours for candidate self-study.

Assessment

Assessment for the First Aid at Work course will include a mixture of practical and theory-based evaluations.
