Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Programme is a four-hour course, providing candidates with knowledge, skills and confidence to act safely, promptly and effectively to deal with a casualty suffering a cardiac arrest.

AED is a vital part of improving the chance of survival in cases of cardiac arrest.
Is this course suitable for you?
This qualification is for learners aged over 16 who have a specific responsibility at work, or in a voluntary capacity to provide emergency first aid.
AED Qualification
The Automated External Defibrillator qualification is valid for two years from the date of achievement. To get qualified in this course, candidates must be 16 years of age at the date of assessment, show 100% attendance and complete all assessments.
Requalification for AED
Candidates should retake this qualification before the certificate expiry date to remain qualified. To requalify, candidates must complete the training and assessment again.
Delivery Method
To ensure the best support is provided to candidates, the maximum number attending a course is limited to 12.
Course Duration
The total qualification time for AED course is a minimum of 4 hours, excluding breaks and organisational arrangements.
Assessment
Assessment for the AED course will include a mixture of practical and theory-based evaluations.

You can add AED qualification to your “Emergency Response Pool” training. With this update, your ER-Pool course time will increase by a minimum of 1.5 hours. You must first add Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) to your qualification.

National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches
You can add AED qualification to your “National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches” training. With this update, your NRASTC course time will increase by a minimum of 1.5 hours. You must first add Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) to your qualification.
